The Pen of the Year 2020 is inspired by the Greek heroes of Sparta and their king Leonidas. The Spartiates’ discipline and superiority are legendary, acquired in a strict education from childhood onwards. In homage to the art of metalworking which was applied to produce Spartan armor, short swords and shields the distinctive barrel of the writing instruments is adorned with premium diamonds which are set by hand. The milled, matte grip zone is a reference to the warriors' breastplate. The milled decorations on the barrel are reminiscent of the archaic patterns on the Spartans’ protective, precisely fitting battle dress. The spring-loaded clip on the cap of the Pen of the Year 2020 is based on the shape of the Greek ridge helmet. Plunger-type fountain pen with handmade 18-carat gold nib (magnum- sized, ruthenium-coated). Matte, sand-blasted, PVD-coated metal barrel with milled pattern. 42 uncut diamonds of 2,1 carat adorn the barrel and embody Greek values such as pride, perseverance and dignity. The milled, matte grip zone is a reference to the warriors' breastplate. PVD-coated highly polished metal parts. Spring-loaded clip based on the shape of the Greek ridge helmet.
